The Folly Retreat

THE STAY

Designed. Never scheduled.

We've thought about the small things so you don't have to. What you do with the time is entirely up to you.

Water bubbling in Sloe's handcrafted copper spa bath on the private deck

The shape of a stay.

BEFORE

We've thought about it.

Directions, access and your guest guide arrive before you do.

ARRIVAL

Nothing needs you.

Park, walk through the gates, let yourself in.

NIGHT ONE

Eat. Soak. Sleep.

Light the sauna, run the bath, cook something easy. Early night optional.

MORNING

Little things worth knowing.

No alarm. Coffee on the deck if the weather's kind.

DAY TWO

What do you fancy?

Gardens, a pub lunch, the shops. Or the sofa.

AFTERNOON

Try something. Or don't.

Bored? Good.

EVENING

You. Us. Here.

Sauna first, wine after. On a clear night, look up.

FINAL MORNING

What are you taking home?

Check-out by 10am, no rush before that.

AFTER

Worth keeping.

The recipe, the walk, the habit you want to keep.

The exhale.

Permission to stop. The first half-hour should tell you nothing needs you here.

The discovery.

Little things worth taking home: food, sleep, places, small habits. Always an invitation, never homework.

The reconnection.

Space for you and each other, through food, play, conversation and doing very little.

The return.

The best bit comes home with you.

Warm. Cool. Rest. Repeat.

Light the sauna stove and give it 30 to 40 minutes. Warm for five or ten minutes, step outside into the cold air, sit for a while, then go again if you fancy it. Finish in the copper spa bath. Around 65 to 75°C is plenty. There's no prize for going hotter.

Good to know. Löyly is the Finnish word for the wave of steam when water meets hot stones. A little goes a long way.

Celebrating?

A birthday, an anniversary, a proposal, or just because?

Tell us before you arrive and we'll arrange something.
